Bathroom Renovation has begun

Our bathroom is in desperate need of a makeover!!

It is very 'Victorian' looking with traditional blue tiles & red patterned wallpaper and the 3pc styling.

We are aiming to achieve a modern, relaxing,
 and light filled bathroom.

DREAM BATHROOM

The 2 below images are my dream bathrooms, but with a small bathroom, this extravagance has had to be restrained.

I have however taken elements from these ideas.

The 2 below images seem more realistic styles to fit in the space that we have available.

I'm obsessed with 'Bianco Carrara Marble' which you may have already picked up on from our kitchen renovation.

I love the cut outs in the walls and the glitzy light in this bathroom.

The above image is very similar to our bathroom layout.
It always helps to see ideas that can be transformed into small spaces similar to your own.

The final look of our bathroom will be focused on a grey & white combination & include: Bianco Carrara Marble wall tiles, a lovely glitzy chandelier style light (depending on what I can find) and silver square detailed bathroom fittings.

Kitchen Progress - Down lights, Tap / Water, Mirror Splash back installed

It's been a few weeks but we're on the home stretch, just a few finishing touches and we're down.

The water has now been connected and our lovely 'Blanco' sink & 'Spire' pull out tap has been installed.

The tap pulls out to enable you to wash out the sink.

The electricians have fitted the 27 down lights in our kitchen.
Everyone thought I was crazy to have so many lights but I wanted all over lighting rather than small pockets of lighting that down lights tend to give.

The 27 lights have been put onto 3 different circuits and also on dimmer switches so we can have more control over the level of lighting required.

The wires hanging from the drop down ceiling are for the decorative pendant lights which have been ordered.
These should be fitted in the next week or so.

The dark grey / smoke mirror splash backs have been installed this week and they look amazing!!

The mirror is not toughened glass so the electricians were advised to be extremely careful when screwing the plug sockets & light switches.

If put on too tight they could potentially crack the mirror.

We chose to order non toughened mirror because toughened mirror was much more expensive, approx 3 x more expensive.
Also the mirror was not going to be located near direct heat so it was not necessary to install toughened mirror.

After shopping around and several quotes later, we chose to order the mirror splash back from:

FINCHLEY GLASS

A new vertical sleek brushed silver radiator has been installed on the left hand side wall.

We're still missing 1 x door which will be delivered this weekend, the previous one arrived cracked so needed to be replaced.

The under stair extension is now a corner cupboard which has been built to house the washing machine & dryer.
Our builder will be painting and finishing this on the weekend.
We will be ordering matching kitchen cupboard doors to put on this cupboard.
The doors will sit within the frame and sit flush with the architrave.

If you have seen the before photos, you will see how this change has really utilized wasted space.

Brand Bosch Washing Machine, so quiet.

Access to under the stairs will now be directly from the hallway.

Our builder has cut out the hole for the door which needs to be made.

This weekend we'll be receiving our new bar stools, so we'll be able to sit and enjoy our new kitchen.

Looking forward to it!!

Kitchen Appliance - NEFF Induction Hob T51D86X2

NEFF Flexi Induction Hob T51D86X2

Our Neff Induction hob was installed & connected yesterday.

We were swayed towards induction due to the speed it's able to heat and most certainly the safety aspect.

Firstly it looks great in our kitchen, very sleek.

We cooked our first meal on it last night, this was the first time I've ever used an induction hob.

I was extremely happy that Neff had a promotion at the time of purchase.
They supplied a free set of Induction pots/pans with the purchase of this induction hob.

Luckily otherwise I would have had to run out to buy all new pans as you can only use induction suitable pans.

I was quite impressed, it was very simple to use (considering I didn't even read the instructions first).

I boiled a full pot of cold water which started to boil extremely quickly,
much, much quicker than gas & electric.

I also cooked some marinated chicken breast, really easy to cook and control the heat.

The touch button panel was easy to use.
You press the button for the hob position you would like to use and then press the plus or minus button to control the heat.

It took a little getting use to, working out which number was the best temperature for different cooking methods, but it's just a matter of trial and error to get use to it.

There are 5 cooking zones on the hob, 1 being a flexi-zone which means that the pan can be placed anywhere on that section and it will be heated.

Overall I was very impressed with my new induction cooking experience & would highly recommend the Neff T51D86X2 Induction Hob.

Looking forward to many more nights of cooking & entertaining in our new kitchen!!
